Summary[]
In the ancient city of B'hala on Bajor archeologists find a tablet addressing the Emissary. Looking at the tablet, Sisko has a vision of the Prophets who tell him that the "Reckoning" must begin. At Kai Winn's urging Sisko agrees to return the tablet. But suddenly he smashes it on the floor, releasing a strange form of energy. On the promenade deck a Prophet appears in the body of Major Kira. Even though Sisko is shocked that his son Jake hosts the opponent, a Pah-wraith, he allows the battle to take place against the advice of his staff. It is Kai Winn, worried by the fact that her faith is not strong enough, who ends the Reckoning prematurely when she activates a chroniton emitter that was installed by the Starfleet crew. Later, Kira escorts her off the station and is shocked to hear the religious leader praising herself for saving Deep Space Nine. Kira answers her with a conviction she has never known before, telling Winn she has defied the Prophets so completely that even they may not know what it means for Bajor.
Errors and Explanations[]
Nit Central[]
- Keith Alan Morgan on Saturday, May 01, 1999 - 7:19 am: If the Wormhole aliens can see all of time then why wouldn't they know the outcome of the Reckoning? dotter31 on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 - 7:54 pm: Who says they didn't know? We only know that they chose not to pass on that information to the writers of the prophecies (according to Winn, who said "the outcome was not mentioned" or something like that) ScottN on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 - 8:44 pm: There's been some speculation. Until it actually happens, the Prophets don't know. But once it happens, then the Prophets have always known it.
- Nove Rockhoomer on Saturday, July 05, 2003 - 9:29 am: One thing I'm unclear on: In The Assignment, I believe, they mentioned that the Pah-wraiths had been imprisoned. But when Sisko smashes the artifact, both blue and red energy beings are released. Why would a prophet have been imprisoned along with the Pah-wraith? Electron on Saturday, July 05, 2003 - 3:29 pm: A prison guard?
